The 2012 season started with a beautifully sunny day. Kil- Kare Raceway is under new ownership and you can tell that they are out to improve on this great facility. This property has a short banked oval, a 1/4 midget track and the dragstrip. The dragstrip was originally a 1/4 mile track but currently ran as a 1/8 mile track. One of the improvements is a new timing system that also has 1.000 foot timers.

The day started out with The Mopar Crazy Challenger, Solid Rock and Susie Q making a test pass. All three cars made a clean test pass and gave the crowd a taste of what they were going to see later in the day. All day long there seem to be a nice buzz in the pits with the crews working on the cars, talking to the fans and signing hero cards.

The funny car...

...was the king of the quarter mile back in the 70' and 80's. Their stage was the drag strips across America. These drag strips would be busting at the seams with spectators that wanted to hear and see the fire breathing, ground-shaking, fiberglass crusaders.

This was a time that had car and driver traveling the countryside for match races and shows that were common in the 70's and early 80's. These drivers would sometimes be booked into 3-5 events a week. Some of the cars that currently run on the nostalgia circuit are original cars from the 1970's and have been replicated to look as they did in their glory days. Others are bodies and or chassis's that have somehow survived the test of time. Most of the cars have nicknames that made the 70's funny car scene so attractive. Each year there seem to be more cars built, with some old familiar names reemerging.

The Great Lakes Nostalgia Funny Car Circuit is a blown Alcohol funny car circuit that will provide a step back into the old days when traveling funny cars shows were the norm.

So now is the time to bring back that nostalgia feeling to your track, by booking in our nostalgia funny car match-racing circuit, or if you are a spectator by letting your track operator know that you want to see The Great Lakes Nostalgia Funny Car Circuit at your track. We can provide an affordable 2 to 8-car field. Our show could be added to compliment an existing nostalgia show or a reunion race. Most of the cars are 1980 or earlier body styles.

We can also put a spin on the usual funny car show and match up the funny cars with front engine dragsters that are either blown on alcohol or front engine dragsters that are injected on nitro. These cars run in the 7.00 to 7.50 second range providing excellent side by side shows. Old smoky halftrack burn outs and speeds close to 190 mph, and often unpredictable runs. The cars involved have been racing for many years and have many crowd-pleasing runs to their credit.

One requirement for this circuit is that these cars be as period correct as they can. You will not see any aerodynamic body tricks on these funny cars. The teams are very fan friendly and welcome spectators into the pit area.
